Dr. G. Leland Melson Endowed Scholarship
The Dr. G. Leland Melson Endowed Scholarship was established with St. Louis Community College at Forest Park.
Dr. Melson was a well respected radiologist who worked at Washington University and was instrumental in developing the clinical ultrasound service at Barnes Hospital, Washington University Medical Center in the middle 1970s. He was also an oral examiner for the American Registry of Diagnostic Sonographers and an active participant in the St. Louis Metro Area Sonographers Society, receiving its award for meritorious service. As a radiologist, consultant and clinician, it was said that there was no physician more caring and unselfish. His practice of medicine reflected an unquestionable commitment to both diagnosis and patient care.
Students must be enrolled in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program at St. Louis Community College, maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be in good standing, submit an application with two letters of recommendation and a short explanation explaining the need for financial assistance to the Scholarship Coordinator.
